No matter who you are, how old you are, what your worldview is, or how well you know wines. Whether you just taste with a glass while watching the sunset with your girlfriend on the terrace, or you chat with friends in a bar, or you want to impress your black-belt wine expert friend at a dinner party. Whether you have no idea where Tokaj or Mád is on the map, and what grape varieties grow there. Or you know the deepest secrets of furmint, lying and rising with historical first class vineyards, and you are in love with botrytis.

These wines are made for you, in our style, tuned to elegance to bring joy when you drink them.

INTRODUCTION

We are a winery from Tokaj-Hegyalja, but without roots in Tokaj-Hegyalja, in perhaps the most exciting terroir in the world. We are young. At least in spirit. We embarked on this task as if we were to live for another thousand years: there is no time, no space, no cost benefit analysis, it simply has to happen…
Or maybe as if the world were to end tomorrow!?

We have been consuming wine for a long time. It’s not the comparison with others that makes us unique, but that our wines arise from our personal fire. Our unique destiny nourishes them. To achieve this, we had to break away from the familiar and bring forth what lies within us, only within us and our territories.
This is also a risk. We risk not being accepted. For our own truth, we risk this too…

We love the wines of Tokaj-Hegyalja, and the exciting terroirs of the world. We taste a lot, but when it comes to our own, the principles are firm: we aim for the elegance that we love, which can reveal this terroir and the potential in our vineyards. The barrel cannot be overused, alcohol cannot dominate, and the balance that we are constantly aiming for cannot be off. So, we work on the perfect proportions for us.

We let the vintage unfold instead of imposing our own will on the wine.

WHO WE ARE?

The first step was recognizing the common will within us. This is the place where we multiply each other’s strength, where we can return in case of disharmony. Then we recognized our differences, and how this diversity strengthens our team. And I was given this task to organize this diversity around a common vision. First, we fell in love with the wine region through the wines. Then we had our own vineyards, and we spent more and more time in Mád. We bought a house, and they made wine for us. Our first harvest was born out of necessity; neither our knowledge nor the circumstances destined us for success. Yet the result was so authentic that we fatally realized: only with our own hands can the wine be made that we dreamed of. This set us on the path of winemaking.
We love to create. We respect our roots but we speak out our own truth. We show Tokaj-Hegyalja, we show Mád, and we show ourselves through our own perspective. For us, wine is communication, the creative expression of ourselves.

We have a deeply rooted, personal connection with the land.

One of our dearest areas, deserving all respect..

It proudly bears the imprint of millennia, like a wise old sage from the East. It's no coincidence that we started the reconstruction of the vineyards here, to rebuild every element of the retaining wall system stone by stone.

nquility. Silence is palpable, life is slow here, only a hare or deer occasionally darting through the rows. In spring and early summer, the nest-building birds enjoy the protection of the grapevines.

MÁRIÁSSY-HÁZ

An estate center with a contemporary approach, built on ancient foundations.

Preserving and recreating the values of our wine region and environment determines every move we make. Besides revitalizing our vineyards, we are now transforming the long-abandoned, dilapidated former Máriássy-House, sparing no time or energy, into something entirely new. Just as with our wines: we build on exceptionally beautiful old foundations with a new, contemporary approach.

Perhaps the most exciting experiment in the wine region is the reconquest of the vineyard cultivated by our ancestors. We planned to implement it for 6 months, and 48 months later, 23 terraces and 1,700 meters of stone walls are standing in the ancient vineyard.

MAUXP Tip: If you are fit, climb the nearly 200-meter difference in level! If not, then don’t worry, a path will also take you to the roof, from which you can enjoy an unparalleled view of Mád and the Alföld that lies in front of us.

WINE TASTING

Making wine is a wonderful experience, tasting wine is fantastic, but drinking wine and chatting together is the best thing we can do! Join us with your friends for a wine tasting event at our estate center!

EXPERIENCE

We would like to share with others all that the wine region has to offer, so besides wines, we welcome you at our estate center with gastronomic surprises, specialty coffees, artisan syrups, and various events (concerts, theater performances, picnics, etc.).

OUR WINES

The Maison aux Pois wines are about elegance, which is why our estate got a French name. Our goal
is to showcase our terroirs in a sophisticated, refined Burgundy style. We seek elegance and finesse
in grape varieties that are capable of expressing our terroir. These grapes harmonize beautifully with
the used French and Zemplen oak. We interrogate our vineyards, believing in the terroir, believing
deeply in this place. Every move we make is intended to convey this message, this experience.

We strongly believe that great wines can only be born from
exceptional vineyards.
